2025-26 Doug Curry

Doug came into the league in 2012, brought in by his brother-in-law, Mike Waddell to join him on the Hawks. Two years later, long time coach Paul Clancy decided to retire from that and Doug was the one to step up to run the team.

The Hawks won the championship that season, and under Doug’s direction, went on to appear in three more championship games, winning once again in 2018-19.

After the 2023-24 season, he decided to retire from the league, but he had started the ball rolling on a re-build of the team, which has seen it becoming a dominant one in 2025-26.

2024-25 Stephen Shaw

Stephen Shaw is no stranger to running hockey teams. He formed his Etobicoke Wings in 1990 and in 2004 he formed an entire league for his team to play in, which is still going strong.   He joined the West Mall Oldtimers and soon became a leading voice on the executive.

In 2028-19 he was forced to stop playing due to a bad hip, which he got replaced and finally returned to the ice in the 2022-23 season but unfortunately broke his other hip and has been sidelined since, but he continues to be at the rink for almost every West Mall game. He has continued to raise the bar every season for talent level in our league, making it a highly competitive one.

In 2014 he joined the West Mall Bruins in our Thursday league and took over the team in 2017 when Rick Ulias passed the torch. He has led his team to five first place finishes and two championships.

Moe was one of the team leaders that pushed the league away from being organized shinny games into one that kept standings and started playoffs In the 2014-15 season.  Moe played defence on the team full time, but his number  of games played slowly dwindled and his duties have been passed on, after some health issues, yet he still makes it to the rink from time to time to follow his team.

Dwight is one of the longest serving members of the league, playing defence with the Port Credit Hawks from the late 90s.  He is probably the oldest player in the league at 75 years of age in the 2021-22 season.  Dwight is a retired Firefighter in Brampton, and has moved further North since his retirement, yet still makes the weekly trip into Mississauga to play with the Hawks.

John joined the league in 2005, playing with the Port Credit Hawks until 2015-16 when he sat out due to health issues, which culminated in his cardiac arrest in 2017, but continued to keep all the league stats and schedules and do the web site, which he created in 2014, as well as being the league photographer.  In 2018 when the Maple Lodge hockey team folded one week before the season, John was  asked to form a new team to replace them and he put together the Argonauts, and played with the team full time for one season before moving to the sidelines, running an coaching the team and playing only when needed.

When the Rusty Blades left the league, Tony got the league in touch with someone that eventually got the Coopers into the league and Tony took on the role as their goaltender. Tony is one of the guys that will help out and has been a true hero of the league.
